Stop Working for Bad Bosses

Got a bad boss? Then why are you still there? Stop it! Stop working for bad bosses. You are responsible for your own mental health and career

Are you frustrated by a bad boss? Tired of dealing with crap from a micromanager, narcissist, tyrant, manipulator or just generally incompetent boss? Stop it! Stop working for bad bosses.

Consider the insightful wisdom of Bob Newhart’s character, the brilliantly brief therapist, Dr. Switzer. He rarely needs more than 5 minutes with clients. After they describe their problems, he calmly explains:

“I’m going to say two words to you right now. I want you to listen to them very, very carefully.”

Dr. Switzer then leans forward and yells, “STOP IT! JUST STOP IT!”

An animated GIF of Bob Newhart, as brief therapist, Dr. Switzer, shouts, "Stop It!" at a patient. A reminder applicable t anyone who needs to stop working for a bad boss.

Unfortunately, your reality is not a comedy show. No, in real life, we must account for matters like financial stability, healthcare for ourselves and family, and much more. However, I’d be lying if I said I never considered Dr. Switzer’s approach when working with some of my coaching clients.

⏳Life is too short to work for bad bosses.

🧠Your mental health is too important to work for bad bosses.

📈Your potential is too great to work for bad bosses.

So, please, for the love of God, stop working for bad bosses.

Martin Luther King – Celebration of a Servant Leader

Martin Luther King is among the greatest Servant Leaders this world has ever seen. His vision, leadership and ultimate sacrifice blazed a path for millions. There are many great posts, videos and other references that remind us of his vision and social injustices he would fight still today. Below are some of my favorites.
